STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
TAYLOR LAUTNER
SEPTEMBER 2003
Congratulations goes out to Taylor Lautner for
being chosen as the Student to be spotlighted for September 2003
TAYLOR LAUTNER

Taylor Lautner began his martial arts career at 6
years old training at Fabiano’s Karate School in Holland, Michigan.
After winning in local tournaments, Taylor was looking for something more.
He competed in his first National Tournament at 7 years old and came home
with three first-place trophies. More importantly than the trophies won at
that tournament, Taylor met someone who would challenge and help develop
his marital arts skills in a way Taylor didn’t even think was possible.
He met and began training with 7-time World Champion Mike Chat. At only 7
years old, Taylor flew out to UCLA and attended Mike’s week long
training camp.
Because of Taylor’s discipline in his training
program taught to him by Mike Chat, Taylor continued winning first places
on a consistent basis in the NASKA tournament circuit. When Taylor was 8,
he was invited to represent the United States for the 12 & under age
division for the World Karate Association. Taylor became the Junior World
Forms and Weapons Champion, triple gold medal winner. Taylor continued his
training and also became the 2001 Warrior Cup Champion for 17 and under.
At 11 years old, by following Mike Chat’s training
curriculum, Taylor has learned how to train to be a champion by learning
to continue to “push” himself 110%. Taylor continues to compete
Nationally and perform in Night Shows.
Taylor has applied these training disciplines in the
other sports he loves. Taylor loves to play football and enjoys playing
running back and outside line backer. Taylor has also had the privilege of
being an all-star in baseball. Education is also important in Taylor’s
life and he continues to maintain excellent grades while pursuing sports
and acting.
Taylor has been in Los Angeles for 5 months to pursue
an acting career. He has appeared in a Nickelodeon Rugrats Promo, a few
commercials and a feature film. Taylor looks forward to further developing
his acting skills and seeing where that path may take him.
Taylor is very excited to be a part of Team
XMA.
Taylor enjoyed performing at the MAIA Supershow in Las Vegas and at
the Big 5 Sporting Good Show. What Taylor enjoys more than the competition
is meeting people and having fun! XMA/Mike Chat have taught Taylor how to
do the things he loves the best; which is work/train hard, meet people and
have fun! He is our choice for September 2003.
